Talk of Fame Network
Adrian Peterson has been away a year but our Talk of Fame Network readers and listeners do not expect to see much rust on his game in 2015.
We asked our followers which back they expected to win the NFL rushing crown in 2015 and Peterson was the choice with 41.7 percent of the vote. Peterson was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list last September and spent his fall dealing with child abuse charges.
Peterson wound up pleading no contest to the charges, paid a fine and fulfilled his community service, then was reinstated by the NFL in April. Now Peterson returns to the Minnesota Vikings at 30 years of age with fresh legs. He won NFL rushing titles in 2008 and 2012.
DeMarco Murray, the 2014 rushing champion, did not receive a single vote. Murray rushed for 1,845 yards a year ago for the NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys with three Pro Bowl blockers in front of him. But Murray became the first NFL rushing champion to switch teams in 59 years when he jumped to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency.
Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks and LeVeon Bell of the Pittsburgh Steelers tied for second in the voting with 25 percent. Bell was the runnerup to Murray a year ago. Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs was next with 8.3 percent of the vote.
