Former GM Ron Wolf — nominated this week as one of two Hall of Fame finalists as contributors, joins the show.
Wolf, who admitted he was “speechless” when told of his nomination, reviews how he brought quarterback Brett Favre and Hall-of-Fame defensive lineman Reggie White to Green Bay — and reveals how he might not have had one of them without the help of a local restaurant.
“We had a lot of people selling (Reggie White, then an unrestricted free agent) on the Green Bay Packers,” he said. “When he flew into Green Bay, he was picked up in a SUV, and it was snowing. He was taken to a fish house … the Red Lobster … and ordered catfish. In those days, they didn’t filet catfish. (But) whoever the owner was stopped by and welcomed him to Green Bay and said, ‘If you sign with the Packers we’ll have filleted catfish.’ ”
So, then, Red Lobster deserves some of the credit for bringing him to Green Bay?
“It might’ve also have had something to do with the money we paid him,” Wolf said.
