Support building for Kevin Greene for HOF Class of 2016

Talk of Fame Network

Only two players in NFL history collected more sacks than Kevin Greene, and both — Bruce Smith and Reggie White — are in the Hall of Fame.

Yet Greene is now in his fifth turn as a finalist for the Hall of Fame and stands his best chance of induction in the Class of 2016. He’s the only pass rusher on the ballot — and the selection committee generally loves pass rushers. Edge pass rushers have been enshrined in seven of the last eight Hall-of-Fame classes: Charles Haley (2015), Claude Humphrey (2014), Michael Strahan (2014), Chris Doleman (2012), Richard Dent (2011), Rickey Jackson (2010), Bruce Smith (2009), Derrick Thomas (2009), Fred Dean (2008) and Andre Tippett (20008).

John Turney at the Pro Football Journal presents a powerful case for Kevin Greene in both print and video form:

Greene should have been in the HOF a long time ago. So, since your ear is attuned to such things, is any support building for Howley to be a senior nominee this year or should supporters of his candidacy not get their hopes up?

If Jackson,Doleman, Dent are in, he should be. I thought when he retired that he would sit just outside the HOF vote….but I said the same about Curtis Martin at RB.

Kevin Greene was absolutely one of the very best. He has waited far too long for his enshrinement into the HOF. His career and stats justify any rationale and anyone who thinks otherwise purely does not understand what he has accomplished as a player. He was an absolute student of the game and is an ambassador for the NFL. He played with respect and loyalty throughout his career and is most deserving of this highest honor. To the voters I say what most of Kevin’s coaches told him every Sunday…DO YOUR JOB AND DO IT RIGHT!!!
